The Caribbean is a popular destination for a World Cruise, possibly because the sun-kissed islands offer crystal clear waters, vibrant flavours, marvelous landscapes, tropical rainforests, exuberant cultures, and more fun than you could ever imagine.

There are some incredible opportunities in the Caribbean, such as scuba diving with stingrays, swimming with dolphins, exploring volcanoes, climbing waterfalls, dancing to Reggae music, lazing on a perfect beach, or sitting in a friendly bar watching the world go by while sipping on a classic rum punch.

The friendly residents of the Caribbean are famously welcoming and laid-back, and the weather is certainly enviable - a combination that is hard to resist when choosing where to escape to when winter approaches, and the cold nights start drawing in.

In this Caribbean feature, we are joined by world cruise expert and Planet Cruise TV presenter Keith Maynard, who will be giving us his expert insight into three of the most popular ports of call on a Eastern Caribbean Cruise itinerary. The islands of St. Lucia, St. Kitts and St. Maarten. Keep your notebooks at the ready for some great tips:

St. Lucia

St. Lucia is your ideal Caribbean getaway, with something for everyone. Whether you want to explore her famous coastlines, join a mountain bike tour through the jungle, or lie on a beach sipping daiquiris through a bendy straw, you’re guaranteed to have a great time.

St. Kitts

St Kitts is picture-perfect, and exudes natural beauty throughout the whole island. The combination of sunny skies, warm waters, and white sandy beaches make St. Kitts one of the most desirable islands in the Caribbean. Nature lovers are in for a treat, as St. Kitts is blessed with a myriad of beautiful wildlife and tropical greenery.

St Maarten

There is always something amazing going on in St Maarten, including some fantastic opportunities which feature on bucket lists all over the world. Sail on a catamaran, swim with giant Manta Rays, and experience an island with a difference. With Dutch and French roots visible throughout the island's towns and architecture, St Maarten is the Caribbean with a twist.

The best times for cruising in the Caribbean are during winter and spring. When the weather here in the UK is at its worst, the weather in the Caribbean is at its best, with temperatures in the high twenties and early thirties centigrade. Perfect for a post-Christmas getaway, and to escape the January blues.
