Costa Atlantica

One step on board the Costa Atlantica and you know you'll feel right at home for the duration of your holiday. Cruise vessels are sometimes accused of being culture-free areas to spend some time away. The Costa Atlantica defies this stereotype, with an Italian atmosphere from top to bottom that manages to permeate everything from the friendly service to the decor (Carrara marble and classical Roman mosaics).

Even the decks of the Atlantica are named after a film created by Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini, who is renowned and adored throughout the country. Deck two is La Dolce Vita, deck three is La Strada and so on. If you're feeling inspired, you may wish to check out one of his movies being shown in the cinema over the course of your journey.

Since this is a Costa vessel, you can expect all the usual bells and whistles - including modern amenities that will make your journey extremely comfortable. This is a line that likes to impress - something they're guaranteed to succeed in with the Costa Atlantica. From the moment you step into the ten-deck atrium and glance upwards at the extraordinary decor, you'll be awe-inspired.

Wherever you dine on the Atlantica, you're certain to meet effusive warmth and fantastic service from the staff, who will treat you as though you were their own family in true Italian style. Botticelli, a sprawling buffet restaurant on deck nine, handles the breakfast buffet. Bagels, white bread, omelettes and cereals make up the bulk of the morning meal.

It's the glittering Tiziano Restaurant that is the ship's main dining venue, however, serving traditional Italian dishes to the usual cruise format. Passengers can choose a table for breakfast and lunch, but formal seating times are enforced for dinner.

You'll find plenty to do aboard the Costa Atlantica - so much so that you are unlikely to have done everything before the end of your cruise.

For a 2,000 passenger ship, there are plenty of lounges, bars and other common rooms to while away an evening with a nice drink.

The Caruso Theatre is the main show lounge, advertising a range of entertainment from comedy to live music. During the day, there is bingo, art auctions, horse races, port and shopping talks to enjoy - typical cruise ship fare but done with plenty of style and pizzazz.
