Queen Victoria was a wonderful ship and the service was first class The on board lecture was disappointing but the entertainment was good We enjoyed out trip with Cunard
Queen Victoria This trip was first class, superb value and the food was excellent. We have done numerous cruises including a number in cunard grill class. This time we went Brittania class and no complaints My only comment would be the price of the drinks in particular wine in the restaurant.
Thoroughly enjoyed the cruise. Company at dining very good and many pleasant conversations around the ship. Although there were many passengers with an ignorant, selfish attitude who must have believed they had right of way before others in all aspects of life onboard the ship. Apologies for last sentence but true.
Only went for the relaxation and good food , had both. I’d not do an excursion (weather was not too kind), instead we enjoyed the ship
My wife and I have just returned from a very disappointing cruise on Queen Victoria voyage V924 to celebrate my 65th Birthday. I understand that things have to be updated but not for the worst. Having sailed on Queen Victoria on six previous occasions, I felt that the ship is trading on past glory. There are no themed Balls e.g. Victoriana Ball; Royal Ascot Ball, London Ball or Roaring Twenties Ball. We used to enjoy these. I spoke to Neil Kelly the Entertainment Director who informed me that these were only done on cruises longer than 21 nights. Having looked at the cruise schedule for 2020 and 2021 there are only cruises of this length on the World Voyage so we can say goodbye to them. The so called Gala Nights were nothing special. The standard of the food served in the Britannia Restaurant has certainly diminished along with the number of courses and portion size. I had to speak to the Maître D on four nights about the quality of food served as to what was described on the menu. The food in the Lido was always well cooked and of the best quality. The drinks are very expensive and the charge for Lemonade as a mixer at $1.80 plus 15% for 100ml is extortionate. The lemonade as a mixer used to be free. Getting a drink in the Queens Room sometimes took up to 30 minutes to get one. There were occasions when no waiters were in the Queens Room. This is apparently to do with the waiters having to go to the Golden Lion to get draft beer. When all the drinks were served in the Golden Lion the service was much better. I resorted to getting my own drinks in the Golden Lion. The cabin and service of our cabin steward was excellent. The guest entertainers in the theatre were mostly excellent. As a Diamond World Club Member the priority embarkation and disembarkation were excellent. If you had never sailed on this ship before you would know no different, but apart from the surroundings there was nothing to differentiate this cruise from a P&O, Princess or Marella Cruise. We will have to think very carefully about choosing to cruise with Cunard again
Stateroom 4040 was comfortable though a tad dated, with a decent sized partially covered balcony with some opportunity to sunbathe on those days when the sun arrived in the afternoon. Well attended by Melanie, the cabin stewardess. Nice Penhaligon toiletries rather than those horrid refillables. My first time cruising alone and would definitely do it again. The table (originally booked as an eight) eventually had seven of us - all singles - and we gelled very well despite all being retired with up to a twenty year age gap at the extremes. Meals can be rushed at first sittng and plates were sometimes removed whilst others wers still dining. I have always chosen free parking in the past but opted for a coach transfer this time and can recommend it. I can't comment on excursions on this trip as I had enjoyed those on previous visits. I opted for the intermediate bridge course on seadays, but everybody gradually left as the instructor should have been better groomed and lost our attention. Embarkation and disembarkation was handled well. Queen Victoria is one of my favourite ships.
We had been on Queen Victoria eighteen months ago and was really looking forward to returning, but what a disappointment. The main restaurant food was a total let down, bad menu and badly cooked. Also the price of the drinks were so expensive, hardly anyone in the bar at night, waiters walking around looking for something to do, shame on Cunard. I will not be going back. Would I recommend this ship? NOT NOW. Excursions over priced.
Cunard is always a lovely experience, the stewards really take care of you and always have a smile. We enjoyed the shows they were very professional. The ship was comfortable with lots ot keep us occupied. Food was good in the Lido and a good selection in the restaurant.
Had not been back on the Victoria for at least 8 years, so good to see how she was doing, food and entertainment as good as the Elizabeth. Our cabin had not been cleaned well and quite a few things either loose or damaged and an odour of urine from the bathroom. After a prompt to the cabin steward and purser, a new shower curtain and better cleaning, all was well. The Elizabeth has a sports pavilion at the bow which the Victoria sadly has not, one of the main reasons we have not been back I think, but with the Elizabeth stationed in Sydney now, we might just have to make do! (Until the new Queen arrives)
The Queen Victoria is a nice mid-sized ship with plenty of space and places to relax or drink.. The entertainment was very good, with theatre shows, quizzes lectures, and games etc. The dining experience was slightly up-market from most other cruise lines, and gentlemen had to wear a shirt & jacket each night. The cost of the drinks and gratuities was also high, but this was tempered by having spending money per cabin. The cost of excursions were high, like most other cruise lines, but there was plenty of choice. The embarkation and disembarkation was well organised and very quick
