RV Princess Panhwar

As a brand new ship in APT’s Travelmarvel fleet, the RV Princess Panhwar offers luxurious cruises along the Irrawaddy River in Burma to those who wish to enjoy a far-flung adventure that will stay with them forever. Named after the famous Queen of Vishnu, the ship will provide premium river cruising to travellers from 2015/2016 onwards, with another new ship, the RV Samatha, launched alongside. As a country that remains untouched, undeveloped and unspoilt, Burma is one of the world’s best kept secrets. However, with the help of a deluxe river cruise aboard the sophisticated RV Princess Panhwar, fortunate guests can experience an unforgettable visit to this faraway land, with the ultimate in comfort and luxury at their fingertips.

The RV Princess Panhwar operates at a maximum capacity of 72 travellers, so guests can enjoy an intimate onboard experience. With 38 crew onboard, guests can enjoy a superb passenger to crew ratio of less than 2:1, which ensures guests are well looked after for the duration of the voyage. Personalised touches will be appreciated by all, and English-speaking staff and local guides will ensure there are no translation difficulties. Travelmarvel passengers tend to be from Australia and New Zealand, but cruises are also marketed at travellers from the UK. An appreciation for culture, history and local heritage is enjoyed by all, and the dedicated Cruise Director onboard can help to ensure every passenger can maximise their experience to the full.

The main dining venue, Mandalay Restaurant, can be found on the main deck. There is a wide variety of dishes – both traditional and regional – available for breakfast, lunch and dinner service, and all meals are included in the fare price. Drinks including local wines, beers and soft drinks, are complimentary with both lunch and dinner service.

The programme of evening entertainment onboard enhances the daily excursions and activities, including a range of cultural performances bringing the heritage and uniqueness of Burma onboard, including a fantastic traditional puppet show. The air-conditioned Kipling Lounge is the main area onboard where guests can relax with after-dinner drinks and enjoy the entertainment for the evening.

Every itinerary offers a number of unique insider experiences that will help to fulfil your holiday dreams – all expertly planned to ensure total enrichment. Ascend Singuttara Hill and visit the 99m high pagoda, or check out the ‘Leaning Tower of Inwa’. There’s also an abundance of Buddhist temples and monasteries to admire, which will help guests to take an in-depth look at the Burmese way of life. Onboard, guests can enjoy expert-led lectures, demonstrations and activities that are inkeeping with the itinerary. Alternatively, there’s a Sun Deck onboard where passengers can enjoy the remarkable views.

Accommodation options are among the largest on the Irrawaddy, with 36 cabins and 2 Princess Suites to choose from. Princess Suites (458 sq. ft.) can be found on the Padaymar Upper Deck. Fourteen French Balcony staterooms (280 sq. ft.) are on the Mandalay Main Deck and 22 Deluxe Balcony Suites (280 sq. ft.) are on the Padaymar Deck. Each category has the use of a French balcony (Mandalay Deck) or an outside balcony (Padaymar Deck), and has been designed with your comfort in mind. All rooms are air-conditioned, and have state-of-the-art amenities including hotel-style beds, a spacious ensuite, desk and vanity unit, in-room safe, flat-screen TV, seating area (on the balcony on Cat B & A suites) bathrobes and slippers.

Head to the Kipling Deck for a pampering or fitness session; there is a well-equipped fitness centre and spa available for guests to use. Alternatively, an hour or two on one of the sunloungers on the Sun Deck will be an ideal way of unwinding and revitalising your mind and soul – especially with the sensational panoramic views that you can enjoy while there!

Voyages on the RV Princess Panhwar can now be booked for 2016 onwards, with a number of itineraries available, including the popular Majestic Burma and Hidden Wonders of Burma (with optional extensions). Tours tend to range from 15 days up to 30 days, depending on the choice of itinerary. Many include optional extensions including Inle Lake – a huge Burmese Lake which entire villages are built on, while other voyages including neighbouring Vietnam and Cambodia are available too.
