Travelmarvel Diamond

Travelmarvel Diamond

Built in 2007, the Travelmarvel Diamond became part of Australian-owned Travelmarvel’s river cruise fleet in 2014. Alongside her sister the Sapphire and her identical twin the Jewel, the Diamond is one of three beautiful gems sailing itineraries on the Rhine, Danube and Main rivers. Not only is she comfortable and luxurious, her cutting edge engine technology ensures a quiet and comfortable glide along Europe’s waterways.

Passengers

As she’s an Australian vessel, Travelmarvel attracts many passengers from Australia and New Zealand. However, her interesting itineraries, onboard comfort and all-inclusive ethos attract passengers from the UK too. With a maximum capacity of 170, Diamond is quite large for a river cruise ship, but with 43 crew on hand, passengers can enjoy the excellent service that a good crew-to-passenger ratio brings.

Dining

The large dining room is located at the front of the Danube Deck. Even though this is an Aussie ship, you can start your day with a good old-fashioned Full English breakfast - but if that doesn’t appeal there are plenty other options. Dinner is a four-course affair designed with seasonal ingredients inspired by the itinerary. Late night hunger pangs are taken care of with the onboard supper. Tea, coffee and bottled water are available 24 hours a day, and true to Travelmarvel’s all-inclusive ethos, local beers and wines are included with lunch and dinner.

Entertainment

The Main Lounge and Bar on the Rhine Deck is the ship’s social hub, where in the evenings, passengers enjoy a drink and the passing view as they listen to live European music. Local performers are often invited onboard to bring the itinerary alive through music.

Activities

The Sun Deck and Main Lounge are both fantastic places to sip a sundowner or post-dinner drink and admire the scenery. Diamond also has Wi-Fi and computers for passengers to keep in touch with home. Offshore excursions are organised by Diamond’s knowledgeable cruise director and include special Insider Experiences to enhance the itinerary. On Diamond, these include the chance to attend a classical concert in Vienna. On disembarkation, passengers are divided into small groups for guided tours with a more personal touch, according to interests and fitness levels. Personal headsets are given out for sightseeing trips and all tips and entrance fees are part of the all-inclusive deal. Alternatively, if you’d rather explore on your own, you’re free to do so. You can even borrow one of the ship’s bicycles.

Accommodation

All of Diamond’s four suites and 81 staterooms are tastefully decorated in a neutral palette with accents of blue to reflect the river. Safe, minibar, deluxe Queen-size bed, desk, vanity unit, closet, shelves and flat-screen TV come as standard in all cabins. The upper Rhine Deck is home to the four 258 sq. ft. Owner’s Suites. These luxurious retreats boast generous living space, floor-to-ceiling windows and all-weather French balconies. The Rhine Deck also houses 34 Category A 172 sq. ft. French Balcony Staterooms. The Danube Deck is home to 24 Category B and 16 Category C French Balcony Staterooms. On the Moselle Deck, you’ll find four Category D and three Category E Window Staterooms with fixed windows.

Spa/Wellbeing

The Moselle Deck is home to the Fitness Centre and the Rhine Deck has a hair salon.

Itineraries

The Travelmarvel Diamond sails itineraries including the 13 day Delightful Danube – Budapest to Prague cruise and European Gems itineraries including cruises from Budapest to Amsterdam, Amsterdam to Budapest and Amsterdam to Prague, varying in length between 15 to 18 days. Or choose a shorter eight day itinerary like The Delightful Danube – Nuremberg to Budapest cruise.
