Viking Longship Kvasir

As the twin sister to the Viking Longship Aegir, the Kvasir was launched in 2014 and provides guests with a beautifully smooth, quiet voyage along the legendary Rhine River. Boasting all of the typical features of the fleet’s Longship vessels, the Kvasir continues the line’s contemporary flair and ingenious engineering that help the Longships to be among the finest ships on the world’s waterways. From the moment guests walk into the light and airy atrium, they will know they’re in for a treat. Beautifully appointed staterooms and suites, and luxurious public areas where relaxation and comfort are key, help to ensure every guest onboard the Kvasir can enjoy a memorable Rhine experience.

The majority of travellers on the Viking Longship Kvasir are mature, well-travelled holidaymakers who wish to spend their holiday experiencing new things and immersing themselves in the local culture and heritage of their destinations. However, the contemporary design of the Longships also appeals to slightly younger travellers. With a maximum capacity of 190 passengers, and 50 crew onboard, guests can enjoy attentive, professional service that never falters. A Cruise Director is also on-hand to assist guests and ensure a top notch experience. The Viking Daily newspaper keeps guests informed of the planned activities, events and excursions.

There is one main restaurant onboard, with floor-to-ceiling windows enabling guests to enjoy the breathtaking riverside views at the same time as they dine. Breakfast, lunch and dinner services are all available in the main restaurant, where guests can choose from a wide selection of food options. For breakfast, guests can choose from cereals, fruit, cheeses, continental meats, eggs and hot food, and for lunch there is a wide range of salads, soups, entrees and desserts on offer. There is waiter-service for dinner, with speciality regional dishes reflecting the itinerary, plus more traditional menu items. Alternatively, guests can dine al-fresco at the modern Aquavit Terrace at the bow of the ship, where casual fare is available, as well as early riser breakfast options and dishes cooked on the outdoor grills. Local wines, beers, soft drinks and water are complimentary with lunch and dinner, but guests can upgrade their beverage package to include fine wines and premium spirits either in advance of the cruise or onboard. Hot beverages are available 24 hours a day, via the self-serve station. Dress code throughout the cruise is casual, but many guests opt for dressy casual for the evenings, particularly for certain events, such as the welcome and farewell dinners and any onshore events that may require smarter dress.

Many passengers opt to spend their evenings in the Observation Lounge, where they can enjoy a drink with friends and can socialise in a relaxed environment. The entertainment onboard is low-key, with various events taking place during the evenings which reflect the nature of the itinerary, including local performers coming onboard to dance, play and sing.

Viking Longship cruises offer a varied activity programme, with carefully selected itinerary fillers which are perfectly suited to the region and ports you visit. Onshore, guests can enjoy a wide variety of shore excursions, including port guided tours and sightseeing opportunities, as well as trips to castles, palaces and windmills. Examples of the Viking Culture Curriculum on the Kvasir’s current itinerary include observing a traditional glassblower and learning how to create your own Alsatian Flammkuchen (flambé tarte).Onboard, guests can also opt to listen to expert-led multimedia presentations or take part in enriching activities to keep busy when not on land. There is also a library corner, an onboard boutique and ship-wide Wi-Fi which can be used at any time, free of charge.
