The stunning Sapphire Princess will be based in Southampton in the spring/summer season of 2019, during which time she will cruise to northern Europe, the Mediterranean, New England and Canada. Not only will guests be able to see some beautiful destinations on these itineraries, but they might also get the chance to see some well-known faces onboard, as 12 celebrity speakers are invited on for Q&A, meet and greet, photos, and book signings. Celebrities who will be making appearances include Gok Wan, Duncan James, Ann Widdecombe, Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards, Des O'Connor, Samantha Bond, Linda Gray, Tessa Sanderson CBE, Fatima Whitbread, David Walsh, Allan Dennis Rich, and Paul Burrell.
While Sapphire Princess is based in Southampton, Princess Cruises have collaborated with one of the UK's most popular gin brands; Bombay Sapphire.
The partnership involves bringing guests the fantastic opportunity of attending gin tasting sessions onboard the ship, where they can learn about the history and manufacturing process of gin, as well as trying a range of different samples - both popular and lesser known. As well as this, guests can learn how to make the ship's new bespoke cocktail; the Sapphire Princess.
Sapphire Princess is one of the largest cruise ships in the world, at 952 feet long, and 205 feet high. A twin of Diamond Princess, she’s equipped to accommodate more than 2,500 passengers and 1,100 crew members. Sapphire Princess has been cruising the world since 2004 and continues to offer guests ample choice of onboard amenities and accommodation. There is a wide range of berthing options for passengers—interior and ocean-view cabins, including more than two dozen wheelchair-accessible cabins; mini-suites of 350 square feet, and family suites with interconnecting cabins, in addition to the standard luxury suites of up to 932 square feet. Of the approximately 1,000 outside cabins, 750 have their own private balconies, providing passengers with a private outdoor sanctuary in which to relax any time of the day or night.
From the interior cabins to the luxury suites, every berth on the ship is decorated to a high standard, and all include daily housekeeping service, satellite TV, and luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets. Suite passengers will enjoy a few extra benefits, including access to an exclusive spa and thermal suite, afternoon tea and canapés delivery upon request, complimentary laundry service, and a “Welcome” pack from the ship’s Chef on embarkation day.

There’s a wide range of dining options on board the Sapphire Princess, with several casual and formal rooms and restaurants. For casual dining—including takeout options—choose from the Horizon Court Buffet, the pizzerias Alfredo’s and Prego, an icecream bar, the International Café for coffee and snacks, and the Trident Grill, for great hotdogs and burgers. Of course, there’s also 24-hour room service, so any time you’re feeling the urge for a snack or a meal, you can always just pick up the phone.
There are just as many dining room options, with traditional formal dining rooms that serve meals at specific times, and dining rooms for “Anytime” meals, so you don’t have to schedule your activities around the ship’s designated dining times if you prefer a more relaxed approach. For a special dining experience, book a table at traditional Italian restaurant Sabatini’s, or at Sterling Steakhouse, with a fabulous menu of beef, seafood, and lamb.
From morning to night, there’s always something to do onboard Sapphire Princess, whether it's a relaxing mid-morning coffee at the International Café or a swim in one of the ship’s pools, Night-time is just as busy, with indoor and outdoor movie theatres showing first-run films, and evening cocktails at one of four bars, each with its own unique décor and mood. Place a bet or two at the magnificent Grand Casino, see a show at the Explorer’s Lounge, or dance into the early morning hours at Club Fusion or the Skywalkers Nightclub.
There’s plenty for children and teens to do too, with a great range of activities designed especially for the younger passengers, and their own onboard club room with movies, games, music, educational activities, and evening events.
