With Iona having finally embarked on her inaugural season at sea this summer with UK coastal cruises, it's time to talk about the next addition to the P&O Cruises' fleet after they announced earlier this year that sister ship Arvia will be joining the fleet from 2022. The second in this popular British cruise line's all-new Excel-class, LNG power and innovative design both inside and out will ensure that she's one of the most trailblazing ships at sea.
With steel cutting for the ship having started at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg Germany in February 2021, Arvia is set to join the fleet in December 2022. Despite sailing as Iona's sister ship, P&O Arvia will have a different feel as she will be designed to sail all year round in the sun. Despite this, Paul Ludlow, President of P&O Cruises says that "...the inherent DNA is the same. It is one which exemplifies design excellence, forward-thinking power generation and future-focused experiences. The hardware, technology and interior arrangement of spaces leaves nothing lacking. Every sheet of metal, every control panel, every cabin, light fitting and chair has been designed and debated to ensure that it provides a pinnacle holiday for our guests and the foremost working and living experience for our crew".
With a name meaning "from the seashore", guests will be able to enjoy fantastic views wherever they are onboard. When it comes to the at-sea experience, guests will find an array of P&O Cruises favourites, as well as innovations that will give this ship a futuristic feel.
Arvia Highlights
Combining signature P&O Cruises features with innovations only found onboard Arvia and Iona, guests will find an array of different facilities onboard this latest ship. Highlights include:
- SkyDome with retractable glass roof, pool and swim-up bar
- Altitude Skywalk high-ropes course and Altitude Mini-golf
- Green & Co restaurant with plant-led menus for vegans, vegetarians and flexitarians
- 6th Street Diner offering both relaxed and more formal dining
- Roast at The Quays
- Cocktails and ocean views at the Amber Lounge
