Iona was built to be the largest ship catering for the UK cruise market, and with a maximum capacity of 5,200 guests, she is certainly up there among the world’s largest cruise ships. Whilst Iona does boast an array of innovative and exciting features onboard, including the SkyDome and fantastic glass-walled atrium, she also manages to convey the authentic British atmosphere that fans of P&O Cruises know and love.

With 15 restaurants to choose from, 13 entertainment venues, and seven different accommodation types, the ship certainly manages to cater to a wide range of cruisers. Public spaces are warm and welcoming, as is the well-thought-out design of the cabins and suites. The Conservatory Mini-suite is a particular favourite, with a generous conservatory-style area which opens out onto a balcony as well.

Iona offers no less than 15 different restaurants onboard, from included main dining rooms serving a range of a la carte dishes, to more quirky speciality options. Here are some of the restaurants you can expect;
  • The Keel & Cow – this is a homely gastropub style venue serving a range of tasty, hearty fare. The dry-aged steaks here are a particular favourite.
  • The Glass House – honed by well-known wine connoisseur Olly Smith, this venue boasts an impressive wine list which is served alongside perfectly paired dishes. Here you will also find wine talks and tastings to learn a little more about viticulture.
  • The Quays Piazza – perfect for those travelling in a group with varying tastes, the Piazza is similar to a market full of exciting international street food such as noodles or pizza. Come along and serve yourself from one of the many stalls.
  • Vistas Café & Bar – when you feel like a treat head here to find a gorgeous selection of famed patissier Eric Lanlard’s cakes and pastries. Choose from a selection of teas and coffees to enjoy alongside.

Entertainment onboard Iona can be found all over the ship. You could find yourself sipping on a coffee in the fabulous atrium and soon see aerial acrobatics showcasing their skills, or impromptu live music providing a fun and liberating atmosphere. Similarly, those who prefer to spend time relaxing by, or playing in the pool will love the SkyDome for the same reason. The pool here is protected by a high honeycombed roof and is surrounded by loungers and plenty of dining options. It also boasts a retractable stage which is the setting for many entertainment acts onboard.
If you’re looking for something a bit longer, however, you can take in one of the fabulous shows at the onboard theatre or a film at the Ocean Studios cinema. There are four screens here showing the latest blockbusters as well as classics, and you can settle in with a drink and popcorn too.
In the evenings there are more than 10 bars and lounges to try, each with its own style and unique atmosphere. Find one you like and return to meet new friends and like-minded passengers. The 710 Club is a must for those who enjoy live music and dancing.

Those who are looking to maintain their health and wellbeing during their cruise holiday can make use of a number of facilities onboard Iona. From the state-of-the-art gym and various fitness classes to the four swimming pools onboard, there are plenty of opportunities to squeeze in some exercise.
And when you’ve worked yourself hard – either in the gym or even whilst out in port on an active excursion – you can relax in the beautiful spa area. Choose from a selection of treatments such as facials, massages, or even a new hairstyle in the salon to give you a lift.
