With something for all ages, regardless of if you’re visiting Qatar for a week or it’s a stop-off before or during a cruise, you’ll have plenty to do during your time there.

In this guide, we’ll take you through the top 8 must-visit attractions in Qatar that you should add to your itinerary. Keep reading to find out more!

1) Villaggio Mall

Kicking off the list is Villaggio Mall- a very popular shopping mall that takes inspiration from the picturesque streets and canals of Venice. Sail along the indoor canal and discover luxury designer and budget-friendly shops, an IMAX cinema, a range of restaurants, the Gondolina theme park (filled with activities from laser tag to a rollercoaster and a bowling alley) and more.

Villagio

Whether you’re looking to shop ‘til you drop or head here for a meal after a day of exploring, the Villaggio Mall has it all. Plus, it’s easily accessible from both the city centre and Hamad International Airport.

2) The Pearl

One of the man-made islands in Doha (alongside Banana Island), The Pearl, with its plethora of villas, hotels, marinas, shops, and restaurants, is a prime example of the nation's modernism. Situated about 40 minutes from Hamad International Airport, it’s visited by thousands of tourists each year.

The Pearl

Spanning four million square metres, top sights at The Pearl include:

  • Porto Arabia - Mediterranean-inspired, here you’ll find luxury yachts, shops, hotels and an expansive waterfront promenade
  • Medina Centrale - at the bustling heart of the island, here you’ll find scenic plazas, gardens, shops, housing, Megapolis (a family entertainment space) and Novo Cinemas
  • Qanat Quartier - filled with vibrant buildings, Venice-inspired canals, chic eateries and an opportunity to enjoy a canal boat ride

When Was The Pearl Qatar Built?

Whilst The Pearl was constructed in 2004, its name comes from Qatar’s renowned history of pearl fishing. Not only was Doha a bustling fishing village in the 1800s, but Qatar was a major international pearl exporter.

3) Doha Corniche

Another must-visit attraction is the Doha Corniche; a popular walking spot for those wanting to take in the awe-inspiring city skyline. Full to the brim with parks, restaurants and cultural attractions, this waterfront destination has so much to offer.

Doha Corniche

Situated at the heart of the city, top highlights include the extraordinary Flag Plaza (home to an impressive 119 flags), the Pearl Monument, the Umbrella Park and the Dugong Sculpture. Alternatively, head out on a traditional dhow boat to see the fantastic skyline from the water!

4) Al Khor Family Park & Zoo

Whether you’re travelling with your family in tow, with your partner or solo, Al Khor Family Park & Zoo makes for a fun day out whilst in Qatar. Located in the coastal city of Al Khor, this zoo gives you the chance to get up close to some of the world’s most fascinating animals from giraffes to pandas.

Al Khor

Not only is the zoo home to 315 animals, but you can also spend your day here enjoying mini-golf and basketball, or head to the museum. There’s also numerous dining options, a mosque, an amphitheatre, a lake and two spacious kids play areas.

5) Al Zubarah Fort

In the 18th and 19th centuries, Al Zubarah was a thriving town with houses, mosques, and other structures. A fantastic place to visit, it perfectly captures the history of pearl fishing in Qatar and was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013.

Within the town, you’ll find a fort, which was constructed in the early 20th century and is now home to a museum, a gift shop and cannons; the perfect photo opportunity!

6) Khor Al Adaid

An attraction that is not to be missed whilst in Qatar is Khor Al Adaid; also known as the Inland Sea. Escape the hustle and bustle of the cities and head to this breathtaking attraction, where you can spend your time enjoying a camel ride, a 4x4 desert safari, a traditional Bedouin dining experience or some rest and relaxation on one of its scenic beaches.

Khor Al Adaid

Situated in southern Qatar, Khor Al Adaid is popular with both locals and tourists alike, and is home to a variety of fish, turtles and even flamingos- who migrate here alongside a range of other birds!

7) Souq Waqif

Souq Waqif, which is located in the city centre of Doha, is a must-see attraction when visiting Qatar. Built on the site of an old trading market, it’s on the banks of the Wadi Musheireb and offers a variety of restaurants, stalls, and other attractions just waiting to be explored.
