Welcome Back Cruises
It is required that all guests sailing with Fred. Olsen as they return to service must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 at least 10 days prior to departure. Proof must be given through the NHS app or an NHS letter.
Further detail around requirements specific to your cruise will be provided to you prior to departure.
Domestic cruises will be able to operate with up to 1,000 people or 50% capacity, whichever is lower. This capacity limit applies to passengers only. This means that when sailing resumes this summer, Fred. Olsen will initially do so with a reduced capacity on each ship, to ensure plenty of space to comply with social distancing guidelines.
Due to the extension of reduced capacity onboard cruise ships until 19th July 2021, some guests may have their voyage cancelled. We will contact you to discuss your options if this is the case.

Welcome Back Cruises FAQs
Will children be able to travel aboard your ships this summer?
Fred. Olsen are currently able to take bookings with children for their new sailings this summer. While at present there are no restrictions in place to prevent children from travelling with them, if it does become a requirement for guests to be vaccinated before any cruise travel, or before visiting certain destinations by cruise, this requirement will be for all, including children. If this does become a requirement and you have booked to travel with children who have not been vaccinated you will, of course, be able to have a refund or transfer your booking to another cruise in the future.
Can I book consecutive (back to back) cruises?
At this time we are sorry that we are not able to offer any consecutive (back to back) cruises. This forms part of our multi-layered approach to keeping our guests and crew safe on board with us.
Are these cruises just for UK residents?
Yes, the Welcome Back sailings will only be available for UK residents in line with government guidelines. Guests must have a passport with at least 6 months validity.
Will I need to wear a mask? What if I'm exempt?
During these Welcome Back cruises, it is expected that guests will have to wear masks in areas where social distancing is not possible. It is likely that this will be mandatory for all guests.
Can I cruise if I have underlying health conditions?
Anyone who is considered ‘extremely vulnerable’ as defined by the NHS should get in contact to discuss their requirements and whether they will be able to travel safely. Unfortunately, anyone requiring supplementary oxygen, dialysis or medical ventilation support will not be able to travel with Fred. Olsen at this time.
What changes will there be to dining onboard?
Guests will be allocated tables in the main dining rooms as usual, with each table to include up to a maximum of six guests. This will become their dining ‘bubble’. For guests travelling as a group, Fred. Olsen will do their best to accommodate them within one dining ‘bubble’, as long as their group is of six people or less. If they are travelling on their own, they will also be allocated a ‘dining bubble’ of up to six people, for the duration of their cruise. Guests do not have to dine as a full dining bubble for all meals, as long as they are not dining with anyone outside of their bubble. In addition, buffet restaurants will be open but crew will be on hand to serve.
What changes will there be to entertainment, activities and recreation?
There will be extra performances added to ensure social distancing, and guests will be able to attend with members of their household or their dining bubble. Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines anticipate all onboard facilities including spas, shops and pools will be able to open, in line with government guidance at the time.

Fred. Olsen Covid-19 safety measures
Fred. Olsen's preferred insurance partner, Holiday Extras, offers cover which includes coronavirus. If you become ill during your cruise, medical assistance. repatriation costs and accommodation for you and a companion will be covered if needed. This policy is available to all guests who meet Holiday Extra’s health criteria, including those aged over 70.
Every surface in every venue will be cleaned using antiviral and antibacterial solutions, overseen by a Sanitation Officer who will carry out regular audits. Cabins will be cleaned every day, and deep cleaned between cruises. As well as this, guests can enjoy 100% fresh air throughout the fleet of small ships, with little requirement for air recirculation.
The specialist medical facilities onboard Fred. Olsen ships are operated by doctors and nurses. Working with Public Health England, they are developing processes to ensure any guests showing symptoms can be isolated and treated onshore and onboard.
