Boarding was chaotic. Clientele demographics changing for the worse. PO not helping as fail to ensure rules are adhered to. Families with young children in main restaurants at dinner. The children are tired and should be in bed not crying in restaurants. They should be allocated a specific venue or area within the restaurant. Children in hot tubs under the age of 8yrs with nappies and for excessive periods. No enforcement by crew. Potentially a health and safety issue.
As always the Iona was excellent. However we did experience a lot of hold ups when we arrived at the port. So many people having to wait to get into the departure lounge. What didn't help was it was raining very hard. This was the first time that we have experienced this.
We have just returned from a 14nt canary Spain & Lisbon cruise. We have cruised with P&O before but found this ship too big, there was queuing for everything all the restaurants and the shows every time you tried to book a table for any restaurant or for the three shows at night there were limited spaces. The food was very good but always very busy. We found the ship quite noisy and a lot of rocking around for such a big ship on certain days even though stabilisers were deployed. Our port of call to Lisbon was cancelled and no other options were made to us, and due to the captain’s concerns with bad weather back into Southampton we were forced to dock in Southampton on early Friday afternoon and then not allowed to leave the ship until 9. 30am the following day due to port authority rules. We were disappointed in the ships onboard booking app and wouldn’t book for Iona or a similar size ship again.
