Tui River Cruises
  • Overview

Launching in April 2019 for sailings from summer 2020, TUI River Cruises bring tours of Europe’s best river cruise destinations exclusively for the UK market. Already popular as a wider holiday brand, TUI River Cruises provide the same quality and service as their hugely popular Thomson-Marella ocean cruises.

As well as full board, as part of your TUI river holiday you can expect a fantastic number of perks not normally included with many river cruise lines, such as 1GB Wi-Fi per cabin per week, transport and transfers, tips and even £120 added excursion credit. In addition, guests can tailor make their package to suit their needs such as by adding a premium drinks package or upgrading their cabin.

Sailing from Amsterdam all the way to Budapest along the Rhine, Danube, Main and Moselle rivers, TUI River Cruises’ three smart vessels, TUI Isla, TUI Maya and TUI Skyla, take in the highlights of Europe to bring you the best of both worlds when it comes to ticking off your bucket list and relaxing in pure style.

The TUI River Fleet

TUI River Cruises have three beautifully modern river ships designed to be ideally suited to traversing European rivers. Each ship perfectly balances that same quality, luxury and homely, friendly feel that makes Marella ocean cruises so popular- each ship hosts only up to 155 guests and boasts a passenger-to-staff ratio of 4:1, resulting in fantastic service.

TUI Skyla specialises in cruises along the Danube, taking in such fantastic destinations as Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest and Belgrade. Meanwhile, TUI Isla and TUI Maya not only cruise the Danube River, but also the Main up to the Rhine and on to the stunning Moselle and Dutch and Belgian waterways. It’s even possible to cruise all the way from Amsterdam to Budapest, taking in the highlights of European history, culture and cuisine in one amazing river cruise experience with TUI.

Passengers

TUI river ships are adult-only, allowing passengers to enjoy a relaxing and enriching river cruise holiday without worrying about the little ones. Onboard, guests can socialise with others who have mutual interests, have some ‘me time’ in the spa or simply watch the world go by in peaceful surroundings. Many people also choose a TUI river cruise to experience a certain activity or destination that piques their interest such as wine tasting, classical music, or seeing a myriad of fairytale castles. This means you’re sure to find plenty of people to chat and bond with; ideal for solo river cruisers looking to get out and see the delights of Europe’s best destinations in comfort and style.

Dining

There are plenty of options when it comes to dining while onboard TUI River Cruises. Guests not only get a new menu each day for dinner in the impressive Verdastro restaurant, but they can also enjoy a more relaxed meal for breakfast, lunch or dinner in the Bistro restaurant. In addition, when sailing along the scenic waterways of Europe in the summer, nothing can be better than tucking into your meal on the top deck as the beautiful vineyard valleys of the Rhine and sweeping forests of Central Europe drift by. To make the most of your excursion experiences, lunches are often held while on the move aboard the ship, allowing you to see two places of interest in a single day while the time in between becomes an event in itself.

Activities

With TUI, there are a great number of varied social events onboard like barbecues on the top deck, live music and comedy in the Club Lounge, and performances by locals passionate about sharing the highlights of their culture with you. For those looking for a bit of quiet time, simply sunbathe on the loungers or read in the shaded seating areas with a cocktail taking in the scenery, head to the Observatory, or soak in the hot tub and book an invigorating treatment in the onboard spa. What’s more, for those looking to start their day right, there’s even Pilates out on the sun deck.

Accommodation

All cabins onboard TUI River Cruises’ three stunning vessels have a great view of the river banks through a window or French balcony. The cabins have the feel of a floating boutique hotel with large beds, elegant furnishings and en suite bathrooms with toiletries and amenities provided. In addition, for those looking to treat themselves and sail down the waterways of Europe in unrivalled luxury, there are a couple of suites onboard each ship – something considerably rare when it comes to river cruising.

Itineraries

As well as one of the most modern river cruise fleets, TUI pride themselves equally when it comes to your experience ashore. In each destination excursions and enriching tours have been carefully selected to make each day an immersive and educational experience. Whether you visit a scenic vineyard, historic city or quaint village, the destination and its culture, history and cuisine will be the stars of the show. TUI give £120 per person per cruise as credit to go towards excursion activities, with the option to add more or simply explore independently as you wish. Highlights of TUI’s amazing excursions include wine tasting in the local vineyards of Rudesheim, taking in a classical concert in the atmospheric concert halls of Vienna, and exploring the castles of Germany - boasting more character than a Grimm’s fairy tale - with an expert guide.
