Voyages to Antiquity are Closing Down

The cruise world sadly had to say goodbye to well-loved cruise line Voyages to Antiquity on Wednesday 11th September 2019. The news came after their only cruise ship, MV Aegean Odyssey, experienced problems with her engine earlier on in the year. The remaining four cruises of the summer 2019 season are scheduled to go ahead after repairs were made to the vessel, however after the final itinerary ends the cruise line will close.

Voyages to Antiquity have been known as a country-club style ship, offering fine dining without the need for a dinner jacket or cocktail dress. Proud of their Mediterranean heritage, the cruise line supplied local recipes and house wines served with immaculate meals. Aegean Odyssey allowed cruisers to enjoy the classically-designed elegance of a boutique hotel at sea while visiting some of the world’s most ancient and culturally diverse cities.

If you are looking for an alternative cruise line that mirrors the style and ethos of this one, take a look at;

  • Ponant - with a fleet of small ships which accommodate between 180 and 264 guests, Ponant offers French-style cruising to a range of fabulous destinations.
  • Pullmantur Cruises - for more Mediterranean-style hospitality, this Spanish cruise line are friendly and welcoming and sail to sunny spots such as Greece, Spain, and the Canaries.
  • Viking Cruises - ships in this fleet are of a larger size, however, there is no doubt that their service is of very high quality. Plus their focus on enrichment shines through in all aspects from cuisine to shore excursions.
