Cruising to Brussels, Belgium

Enjoy a healthy dose of Brussels (the destination, not the vegetable) for your next adventure away and you are guaranteed to have the time of your life. The Belgian capital has so much to offer from a historical and cultural point of view, not to mention that the chocolate is worth the visit in itself.
When planning a trip to Brussels, a great place to start is the Grand Palace, the city’s central square, of which the Gothic Hôtel de Ville was the only building in it that escaped damage by the French in 1695. Make sure to make the time to stand in the middle of the square and take in the breathtaking view - given the amazing architecture it won’t be hard to get caught up in it anyway!
The stunning Town Hall is also situated in the Grand Palace and really offers a sense of the city’s history. It’s also very striking to see at night so make sure you put in your itinerary to make two trips to the Grand Palace.
The Grand Palace is also home to Museum of Cocoa and Chocolate, which is any chocoholic's paradise. Discover the origins of chocolate with the history of the Aztecs and the Mayans, and learn the importance that the delicious treat has in Belgium. As tends to be with any museum trip, you will no doubt find yourself getting very excited by the chance of trying the goods that are demonstrated to you, in which you can sample some authentic, freshly made praline chocolates.
Make sure you walk off all the delicious chocolate you will eat by having a wander through the city centre and pick up some chocolates to take home with you as souvenirs for friends - or for you to indulge yourself in at a later date!
Brussels also offers a number of impressive cathedrals, most notably St. Michael and St. Gudula Cathedral. The building of the cathedral began in the early 13th century during a time in which the Gothic style was heavily used in the city, which is clear from the various landmarks and architecture throughout Brussels. The building of the cathedral was most certainly not a quick one as it took approximately 300 years to complete, with some restorations having taken place since.
Notre Dame du Sablon is also a beautiful place to visit, in particular its stained glass windows and sculptures outside are a must-see.
