Cruising to Mormugao

Located close to the port city of Vasco da Gama in the state of Goa, Mormugao is slap bang in the middle of one of India's most iconic and culturally unique regions. Having once been controlled by the Portuguese, this part of the country has a very distinct heritage, and offers up loads of interesting history to go along with the amazing beaches and other natural attractions that can be enjoyed here.

Among the top landmarks to look out for in Mormugao is Mormugao Fort, which dates back to the 17th century and provides a window back to colonial times. These days, the town has strong connections to the Indian navy, so visiting the Naval Aviation Museum is always a good way to learn a little more about the local culture.

Naturally, though, most people visiting Goa will want to spend as much time as possible on the beach, and with Marmugao being the state's largest port, the majority of tourists use it simply as a point of entry before continuing on to some of the many iconic coastal stretches for which the state is so famous.
