When she was built in 1995, the Sun Princess - sister ship to the Sea Princess and Dawn Princess - was one of the largest cruise ships in the world. She led the industry in countless ways: size, percentage of cabins with balconies out onto the open ocean, and much more. She was also the setting for the TV show The Love Boat: The Next Wave, and even today continues to lead the field, remaining one of the most beautiful, majestic, and sought-after cruise ships in the Princess Cruise Line fleet (or anywhere). Recently refurbished and fitted with Princess Line mainstays like the Sanctuary and Movies Under The Stars, the Sun Princess is a grand lady who just gets better with age, as any of her satisfied passengers or proud crew members will tell you. In 2007 she even received news coverage across the world as the largest ship to ever cross under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, with only eight feet to spare even at low tide.
On board, the Sun Princess offers the kind of breathtaking views, stunning decor, and fine dining you’d expect from a cruise ship of her awe-inspiring calibre. Standard cabins feature polished blond wood, relaxing colours, and plenty of space, while suites give passengers a gorgeous balcony with seating, as well as the usual amenities you’d expect with a cruise suite. When you’re on board the Sun Princess, sailing to some of the world’s most beautiful and exotic destinations, there’s nowhere else on earth you’d rather be.

The chefs aboard Sun Princess take great pride in their work, which is evident in the Regency Dining Room. With fixed dinner sittings available at 5:45 and 8pm, as well as open dining during breakfast and lunch, the Regency Dining Room will take you back to the grand days of open-water travel, allowing you to luxuriate in the style and sophistication of the moment. The Marquis Dining Room, which allows for reservations from 5:30 to 10pm nightly, is another excellent choice, with carefully prepared menus served using the best ingredients available.
If you’d like something a little more casual, the Sun Princess offers the Horizon Court buffet restaurant, as well as the Terrace Grill, a barbecue located directly on deck for a breezy, relaxed meal. For specialty cuisine, you can choose between the Kai Seafood Bar, specialising in oysters and sushi, or the excellent grills at the Sterling Steakhouse.
Everyone loves to feel like the top cat in town, and you’ll be able to indulge yourself in this feeling every time you visit one of the Sun Princess’s bars and lounges, or play a round (or the slots) at its excellent casino.
Games are also available throughout the cruise ship, and for a variety of ages; everything from on-board “game shows”, to trivia contests, to bingo and art auctions will keep you more than occupied. In the evening, variety shows with excellent production values will ensure that you spend your evening in high spirits, before retiring to bed and dreaming of all you can do tomorrow: a dip in the pool, a nature talk by on-board naturalists, Movies Under The Stars, and even a rejuvenating spell in the ship spa.
