Customer reviews for Marella Discovery
The only problem I had was the very low quality of entertainment and the service at the bars at the pool area
Overall experience was ok but we would not travel on the Discovery again after a catalogue of issues that negatively impacted our holiday experience. Very rough crossing from the onset. Itinery changes before we left the UK meant we missed Malaga and Gibraltar. Taking a more northern route impacted the entire journey. Problems with the ship from departure in Vigo. Stabilisers not working properly, issues with bow thrusters affected the ships steering resulting in missed / cancelled ports. Very disappointing particularly Antigua as we got married there and the 11/12/25 was my husband’s birthday so one we did not want to miss. Trip refunded but no compensation offered when we enquired- not even a goodwill onboard credit. Cabin refurbished and cabin staff superb. Special thanks to Heineken, Anna and Lemuel. Broadway entertainment was fantastic but the musicians on the ship were dire. Harry, Tor, The Collective and Island Waves need replacing asap. Service overall good - guest reception not very helpful when things go wrong just not interested. Food ok but repetitive. Not good value for money at all.
What a fab family holiday, making lots of memories. The first time of cruising for most of our party and they loved it. Everyone of the staff we spoke to were amazing. We really felt at home. Can’t wait to come back again.
The food was good. along with the friendly helpful waiters. The cabin service team of Heineken, Roland and Anna deserve extra praise for their friendly, helpful work especially mopping up the sewerage which came up through the shower and toilet. The ship overall was in good order. The only downside was the balcony which we felt was tired having rust. The black rubber in the partitions and doors was rotten causing black stains. The balcony door did not fully shut causing whistling when windy. We had black sewerage back up and fill the shower base and bathroom floor. Not helpful when going on a trip that morning. Overall we enjoyed our holiday, with an interesting itinerary. This trip also had minimum sea days, which suits us.
