Ship nice. More for older generation.
We previously cruised on the Majestic Princess which was excellent. Unfortunately this cruise had a lot to live up to and didn’t match up to our expectations. The everyday dining options were limited and a bit disappointing. We ended up not really bothering with breakfast because it was so poor. Food wasn’t being turned around quickly and the choice was limited. The specialist steak restaurant was very nice but we paid an extra $30 per head to experience it. Our dining room waiter was very good but a lot of the other staff were poor. They rarely came around the pool asking for drinks orders. The cabin was fine except the TV was awful. The choice of channels was limited and the programs were very dated. On the previous cruise there was up to date movies which you could watch free of charge in your cabin. Overall the cruise was OK but just wasn’t even comparable to our experience on the Majestic Princess. I appreciate these ships are at different ends of the spectrum of age, however, Princess have got to do a better job of upgrading their existing catalogue to keep them modern and in line with their newest ships.
A nice ship which has been updated but is still smart. Very good food in both the buffet and restaurants. Service variable as many of the staff were unhappy with there work load and freedom. Generally good entertainment, good theatre productions and music in lounges and bars all evenings. When trying to sort out billing found the system to be nightmarishly complicated and even front desk staff could not explain how it worked so never quite sure if we had been overcharged. Generally over the years have seen higher prices on drinks which are becoming silly to the extent will only go all inclusive next time also suggested gratuities are becoming far too high which means you have to adjust on board which seems mean but is becoming essential. Outdated American system which is not acceptable to the rest of the world.
