Norwegian Dawn

Norwegian Dawn took her maiden voyage in 2002 as a Libra class cruise ship, clocking in at 965 feet long, and she was the first of Norwegian Cruise Line’s vessels to bear the distinctive hull markings that are now a feature of all new ships. She can carry nearly 2,500 passengers, and has a crew of 1,032 people. Passengers have a fabulous range of berthing options to choose from, with attractive and comfortable interior and ocean-view staterooms, as well as staterooms with private balconies, and the ability to choose your preferred deck and location. For luxurious shipboard accommodation there’s also the option to choose a mini-suite, or full-size suite with plenty of room for the whole family, along with a private balcony.

Norwegian Dawn has a varied itinerary, with summertime cruises cruising to Boston and Bermuda, and autumn cruises along the coast of Canada and New England showcasing spectacular seasonal foliage. Ports of call can include Quebec, Nova Scotia, Maine, and Boston. In the winter months she visits the Caribbean, for cruises to sun-drenched locations such as Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Aruba, and Curacao.

An important part of the Norwegian Cruise Line philosophy is giving passengers the freedom to create their own perfect holiday, and with that in mind, the selection of dining and entertainment venues on board the Norwegian Dawn is extensive.

On board the ship you’ll find more than a dozen different places to eat, including two main dining rooms, the Venetian, and the Aqua, featuring fresh, delicious food that’s beautifully cooked and well-presented. The Norwegian Dawn also features several specialty restaurants, like Le Bistro, with traditional French fare such as escargot, and divine creamy desserts. There are two steakhouses on board—Cagney’s is a traditional American-style steakhouse, and the Moderno Churrascaria is in the Brazilian fashion. Rounding out the restaurant options are Bamboo, featuring Asian cuisine, and the Italian-themed La Cucina.

There are a number of casual dining options, perfect for a quick snack or meal—the Blue Lagoon serves up fast food 24 hours a day, the Bimini Grill features tasty burgers, and the Garden Café is where you’ll find the an impressive, casual menu. With an ice cream shop and a pizzeria on board, along with room service, there are plenty of choices to suit just about anyone.

The Norwegian Dawn provides plenty of entertainment to keep you busy, and opportunities to relax, too. Stay active in the ship’s fitness centre, take a Pilates or aerobics class, head out in the early morning on the on-deck jogging track, or take a swim in the lap pool. Relax in a hot tub or Jacuzzi, or visit the Mandara Spa for pampering, with a massage or beauty treatment. Head to the library for some quiet time, the internet café to catch up with the crowd back home, enjoy a wine-tasting session, or simply relax by the pool.

There’s plenty of entertainment to be found at night too. The stunning Stardust Theatre is packed every night, thanks to its fantastic performances of singing, dancing, comedy, and other acts. Also on board are eleven bars and lounges, each gorgeously decorated with a different theme, many of which feature live music each night. Check out the movie theatre or head to the Dawn Club Casino for some late-night action—you’re on the Norwegian Dawn, so the choice is yours.
