Excellent service, friendly staff.
I thought the staff were friendly and helpful. I have travelled as a family before with another Cruise Liner on the cruise with the Norwegian Gem I was on my own. As a solo traveller I would have liked to have attended interesting talks given by people with expert knowledge in all manner of different subjects. Not only are you enjoying visiting different places but your mind is stimulated as well! What could be more luxurious than that!
Cabin a good size, but the bathroom was a bit on the small side - anybody over 6’ would have struggled to sit on the loo! Excellent food - really enjoyed the ‘Freestyle’ of dining - could not fault either the food or the service. Entertainment really isn’t our thing, but some of the singers were good. Excursions - only did one and whilst the content was good, it was not good value for money - par for course with cruise ship excursions. Itinerary - excellent! We enjoyed every port we visited and transitting the Panama Canal was amazing - highly recommended! All in all, an excellent trip which was definitely value for money.
Before I went on the ship I pre paid my gratuities which cost $210 for a couple only to find this was only half of the gratuities as they then charged us $15 each per day which totalled another $210 which I found was totally unacceptable but was assured this was correct by the ships team. If this had been explained to me I would never have gone on this cruise with Norwegian Cruise Line as I had twice cruised with them before and all gratuities where paid at source. The last time I will go with this company for sure.
