The Windjammer cafe was very dirty. Food in here and the main restaurant was mediocre. The shows were very poor and entertainment in general seemed to be lacking. No where near enough sunbeds for sea days. The excursions were poor and not very good value for money. They ran out of a number of items, butter, marmalade, Coors light, Johnny walker... On the whole we were quite underwhelmed with the whole cruise.
Ship's cleanliness was below standard and when you entered the dining rooms there was always a funny smell, cabins were dirty with dust and fluff underneath cabinets the balcony was very dirty. The dining menu was changed at last minute and the food was served cold on every occasion breakfast lunch and dinner. The food was cooked badly, the chicken was like rubber, even a simple dish like Caesar salad was inedible, it was as if the meat had been cooked then frozen or stored at a very low temperature. Steaks were cold in middle and every meal was served with two carrot batons and one broccoli floret and a scoop of mash. When we complained we were moved to a selected area in the dining room and for the last 4 days our meals improved and were served warm. We were also given Asian inspired dishes on the side to try that were excellent, I don’t know why the menu was not kept to that originally advertised. The staff tried their best but I think that the chefs onboard had no or very little experience preparing and cooking a western menu. When cruising part of the experience is the high quality well presented meals . The food onboard was nothing short of a disappointment.
Food average. Service average. Excursions average and over priced Onboard services, over priced i.e. Internet £20 per day!!!
This was a strange cruise ,the food tended to be lukewarm ,the service was very random ,the entertainment was poor ,and the excursions were very expensive and poor
Was repositioning cruise. Food in dining room not great. Appeared very short staffed. Ran out of suncream in the shop. Did not sell paracetemol in shop. Advised to have consultation with nurse! (Bit OTT)
Up until now we have always had excellent service, but on this trip the service was terrible. Most of the staff had not been trained properly, could not serve wine the correct way and did not bother with getting your food or drink order correct. Couldn't converse with us properly if there was a problem ie the cabin needed shower gel replenishing, and other minor requests.
First time with Royal Caribbean but enjoyed it. If went again would book drink package in advance as much cheaper. Difficult to get a sun bed whilst at sea but so is every other ship.
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, the China tour was amazing but could have had a little time to explore on our own .The arrangement for shuttle buses wasn't great and we had to wait over an hour for one to take us back to ship in Hong Kong in very hot humid weather .The comedians on the ship were really poor. The room at the Metropolitan in Tokyo was very small , apparently Room Superior means your room is on a high floor ?!!. Other Hotel Rooms were fine.
An excellent ship with a courteous crew, great facilities and great food with some really good entertainment. It was also very easy to board and disembark the ship.
Very overpriced for things on ship, drinks etc. Entertainment poor. When asking- excursions staff questions about trips they did not have the information Also, when getting shown to table for evening meal, waitress walking around with map, as she had not been trained as to where tables numbers were. Food in main dining rooms were repetitive every night so we were forced to go to the buffet restaurant for more choice
