This was our first Virgin cruise. It was very different from previous cruises (NCL, MSC, Celebrity, Costa) & overall we had a great time. The food was excellent but we had heard it was far superior to other lines & didn't entirely agree. Very clean ship, fabulous crew & a lot of fun. We only did one excursion which we enjoyed. The bar tab idea seemed good at first but we prefer a drinks package overall.
Virgin Voyages Resilient Lady was very new so everything onboard was in beautiful condition. Our cabin was an XL sea terrace which meant we had a larger balcony to enjoy and the toilet and shower were separate. The cabin was beautifully presented and there was a tablet to control the tv, curtains and air conditioning. We loved the hammock on the balcony in Virgin red. However, the cabin we were given was at the front of the ship (fore) on Deck 8 and was very noisy and every time we docked in port we were awoken from our sleep by the horrendous clatter and noise of the mechanical system they used to dock the ship and lower the anchor. This regularly woke us up from our sleep early and the day we returned to Athens I actually recorded the horrendous clatter and clang which went on from 3.30 am in the morning to gone 4 o’clock as we arrived in port. Avoid any extra large cabins at the fore end is our recommendation especial Deck 8 side A. The food was very good with a wide range of extra restaurants to use at no extra charge. Book early to get booked in. The Virgin excursions we felt were very expensive and were not our choice so we chose to book sightseeing with a different supplier.. We did try to book with Venture Ashore but they cancelled 3 out of 4 of our bookings due to insufficient numbers. The entertainment was plentiful and a wide range of activities were available throughout the day and night. The shows were very good but there were a limited number of shows as they repeated them three times over the week. We felt there could be more shows available. Overall we had a good time but were very disappointed with the noise and disruptions which disturbed our sleep every time we docked in and out of port.
Fantastic overall experience, would recommend to anyone!
