Scarlet Lady

Setting sail from Miami from 2020, Scarlet Lady is the first of four identical ships released by Virgin Voyages between 2020 and 2023.

The vision of designers who have never cruised before, Scarlet Lady is specifically thought-out to entice non-cruisers and first timers who have previously not been tempted by a cruise holiday. This approach results in Scarlet Lady being an exclusively adult-by-design ship, aimed specifically at attracting a new class of sailors at sea, the modern traveller who enjoy on-trend restaurants and immersive entertainment experiences - the next generation of cruisers.

Not only do Virgin Voyages wish to revolutionise adult-only, luxury cruising in terms of what’s on offer onboard, they also want to set a standard when it comes to the environment, focusing on leaving our seas, such as that of the Caribbean, as clean as possible for future generations to enjoy. This philosophy involves banning single use plastics, using sustainably-sourced food ingredients and hybrid propulsion systems, as well as recycling wasted energy from the engines to power onboard facilities.

Virgin Voyages do dining onboard Scarlet Lady like no other cruise line. With no buffet, no set dining times and no extra fee for eating onboard, Scarlet Lady provides a truly unique cruise dining experience at each of the 20 dining venues onboard. Notable mentions include:

  • The Dock: Relaxed, al fresco space serving Mediterranean finger food such as tapas and mezze.

In terms of entertainment Virgin Voyages sail against the tide when it comes to what sailors will find onboard Scarlet Lady.

After a day of relaxation and rejuvenation, the evening takes on a more energetic atmosphere with a focus on letting your hair down and making the most of the ship’s vibrant nightlife.

The headline act has to be the two-storey nightclub with varied DJs playing floor fillers everyone will love to blow off steam to.

You won’t find any Broadway-style shows or cheesy cabaret onboard Scarlet Lady either. Instead you can be entertained by a cheeky drag act while having some brunch at Razzle Dazzle!

In addition, in the main theatre venue, the Red Room, Virgin Voyages’ sailors will be mesmerised by no less than six fantastically varied, world class shows. From acrobatic modern interpretations of Romeo and Juliet to adult-themed burlesque, there’s something for every cruiser with Virgin Voyages. The show doesn’t stop in the Red Room either as small bands of performers pop up on deck during the day, delighting sailors with their playful acts that rip up the fourth wall and throw it overboard!

Other top Scarlet Lady venues include:

  • The Dock: In the evening this Mediterranean-inspired al fresco space takes on a more Ibiza-style atmosphere.
  • Athletic Club: Here you can relax and exercise in perfect measure with running track and outdoor gym equipment as well as ten cabanas, day beds, table football and swimming pools.
  • The Manor: The pumping two-tiered nightclub becomes the centre piece of your evening for dancefloor-filling DJs and communal atmosphere until the early hours.
  • Richard’s Rooftop: Exclusively for sailors with suite accommodations, this al fresco lounge area has a bar for your favourite drinks and experimental furniture features.

When it comes to how you spend your time onboard Scarlet Lady between ports, Virgin Voyages again have a philosophy like no other cruise line. Their style sees you not need a break from your break, aiming at relaxing and rejuvenating you from the stresses of life back home in equal measure.

As a result, your time onboard Scarlet Lady is divided into either detoxing - clearing your mind, body and soul of the weights you carry before stepping onboard - and retoxing, to fill you with a new purpose and feeling of energy.

Christened the ‘Vitamin Sea’ concept, examples of how you can spend your day achieving this perfect equilibrium include:

  • Top Deck: A full circle view right from the top of Scarlet Lady where sailors sunbathe in isolation during the day or partake in yoga sessions at dawn and dusk.
  • Athletic Club: Outdoor training area with boxing bags, free weights, gymnastic stations and epic views between reps.
  • B-Complex: Indoor fitness complex for sessions such as spinning classes, core and cardio and yoga with a theme of burn, build, bike and balance for a well-rounded workout.
  • Redemption: As well as a plunge pool and saunas, this underwater cave theme boasts mud rooms, salt rooms, hydrotherapy pools and a number of spa treatments for the in-depth spa experience at sea.
  • Well-Being Pool: The main outdoor pool and lively social hub during the day, along with California beach style workout stations.
  • Stubble and Groom: Hipster-style barber shop
  • Squid Ink: The one and only tattoo parlour at sea
