Carnival Magic sees Carnival pull out all the stops, boasting some brilliant innovations and inventive twists on the old themes and staples that have made this one of the most popular cruise lines in the world. Being a 3,690-passenger behemoth, she weighs in at 130,000 tons and retains a reputation as one of the coolest ships on the high seas.
Various designers have lent a hand to the interior design, although it's heavily influenced by stalwart Carnival creative Joe Farcus, for whom this would be the last project with the company. He went out in style, however, and there's plenty of neon, mirrored surfaces and jaw-dropping glam.
Accommodation-wise, you can expect a bright and spacious cabin, with even the smaller ones offering at least 185 square feet of space. Families may want to take advantage of the 'family quint' cabins that allow you to sleep up to five in the same space - very useful indeed if you're taking the kids. Those seeking unlimited luxury, however, will want to opt for a grand suite, which not only offers a balcony and ocean view, but also a living area separate to the bedroom - luxurious indeed.
You're never far from a great restaurant on board the Carnival Magic - this is where the ship really excels. Try the Prime Steakhouse on your first evening and you'll understand why. The meat is delectable, and the staff are very friendly and happy to make recommendations.
Cucina del Capitano, a family-style Italian diner, is also a great option, particularly for lunch as there is a free salad and pasta bar.
Finally, you'll find a tantalising selection of tapas-like bites in the RedFrog Pub, considered the top dining space on the vessel. Mmm, tasty! As with all Carnival ships, there is also a 24 hour room service offered on board.
