Costa Luminosa

Many Costa Luminosa cruise itineraries include a stop in beautiful Venice, a city which is said to see more than 20 million visitors each and every year. In order to try to protect the city, Costa Cruises are supporting the Venice Municipality’s #enjoyrespectvenezia initiative which promotes responsible tourism. Visitors are encouraged to purchase the official booklet about how to experience the city in a respectful but enjoyable manner and to try out some alternative routes into the city centre in order to lower footfall in some of the most well-known areas.

Step onto the Costa Luminosa and enter a warm and whimsical ship that manages not only to cater to your every need as a holidaymaker but also pushes new boundaries in design. Constructed to Panamax specifications and a smaller design than you might expect, the end result is a flexible vessel that is solid in performance. The slender shape even allows it to expand its itinerary possibilities, permitting it to go through hard-to-reach areas like the Panama Canal.

The first aspect you'll notice when you step aboard is the laid-back European atmosphere, which is prevalent throughout. This is conducive to the holiday experience, helping you to relax from the moment your break begins. Activities onboard are plentiful, as outlined below, with families, couples and singletons sure to have an excellent time. Smoking is permitted onboard; the onboard events list is always worth checking out. As with all of Costa Cruises' ships, the staff are friendly and helpful, making you feel at home aboard the vessel.

You'll find four restaurants aboard the Costa Luminosa. The main one - Taurus - is a spectacular two-deck venue that can be found at the aft of the ship. Smashing views of the sea and approaching destinations lend a certain grandeur.

Breakfast is primarily a buffet, with meats, cheeses and pastries dominating proceedings. For lunch, head to the main pool, where you'll find a casual grill that's perfect for keeping the kids happy. The Luminosa Club Restaurant is the boutique option - you'll find it specialises in steak and seafood. The health-conscious can head to the Samsara Restaurant where the food here is delicious and very good for you.

Keeping busy aboard the Costa Luminosa should be no trouble at all - entertainment is aimed at a multilingual crowd so you should find something to do, no matter which language you speak.

The pool is, as always, the first port of call for most passengers. Stretch yourself out on a lounger before dipping your toes in the cool waters. There are other more innovative things to do though.

The Costa Racing Team virtual simulator, where you can try out your Formula 1 driving skills, is great fun. There's a 4D cinema in the Mizar theatre, and if you're looking to dance the night away, Disco Altaire should be the number one destination on the list.
