Costa Smeralda

The stunning Costa Smeralda is the designated flagship for Costa Cruises, and for good reason. She is at once classy and contemporary, comfortable and sophisticated, and stylish and simple. With much of the design of the ship being accredited to international designer Adam Tihany, Costa Smeralda certainly captures the essence of her Italian counterpart - a stunning stretch of land which sits on the northeast side of Sardinia.

Not only is the ship beautiful, but it can also be commended for its low environmental impact. Being powered by the world's 'cleanest' fossil fuel - Liquefied Natural Gas - Costa Smeralda boasts notably low exhaust gas emissions.

Guests will find they are spoiled for choice when it comes to dining onboard Costa Smeralda. The gastronomic experience includes 16 different locations to eat, plus 18 venues to socialise and drink in, offering plenty of variety and choice to suit all guests.

There are four main restaurants; La Colombina, Il Meneghino, Arleccchino, and Il Rugantino. These venues span from casual and simple, to more elaborate yet comfortable options. There are also two buffets, as well as five food courts and three speciality restaurants to try. Speciality restaurants are at an extra charge and include Teppanyaki (Japanese food), Pizzeria Pummid'oro (Italian-style pizzeria), and Laboratorio Del Gusto where diners can get creative and build their own feast.

In addition to these, members of the Costa Club Perla Diamante level can enjoy the exclusive Bellavista, and suite guests can dine in Panorama.

Costa Smeralda offers Liquid Entertainment, which includes thrilling shows, live music, dance, and other performances at venues such as Piazza Trastevere and Colosseum.

The Piazza Grande Bellezza is a luxurious amphitheatre in the heart of the ship, where guests can watch a range of performances. Piazza Ravello is an open space with a vibrant atmosphere, with a lounge area, live music, and popular Spritz bar. Entertainment can also be found throughout restaurants in the form of pianists and DJs sets, and there are fun street performances happening in the public areas of the ship.

For evening entertainment, try your luck at the buzzing Casino Laguna, or enjoy an evening at Quelli Della Notte piano bar - one of many vibrant bars.

As well as the onboard gym, Costa Smeralda boasts four pools for guests to use. Settimo Cielo is the outside pool, La Spiaggia is the central pool, and the last two are children’s pools.

After getting some exercise make time to relax in the Samsara Spa, where you can spend a few hours pampering yourself with some ‘me time’. The facilities here include a beauty salon, sauna, thalassotherapy pool, and of course a menu of wonderful treatments.

Both families and adult cruisers will be thoroughly entertained onboard Costa Smeralda. For young cruisers there’s from the exciting Aqua Park, or the interactive La Sala Giochi game room which is an ideal spot for teenagers to socialize. Luna Park is a lively area for younger children to meet and play together, and participate in stimulating activities.

The CoDe Museum is a first for Costa Cruises; it’s a brilliant museum showcasing the exquisite Italian design onboard the cruise ship offering guests the chance to explore and get to know more about Italian style and finesse.

Cruisers looking for a bustling Mediterranean marketplace-style environment should head to deck 8 and visit the Trastevere - a string of shops and bars such as Illy, Campari, and Ferrari.
