Before your cruise

1. Download the Royal Caribbean International App

From skipping the lines at check-in to pre-booking dining and entertainment, the Royal Caribbean app makes cruising a breeze. Utilise this before you get onboard to ensure you get the most out of your cruise holiday. To check in, simply scan your passport, snap a security photo and you’ll be on your way.

2. Get to know the Cruise Planner

If apps aren’t your thing don’t panic! Royal Caribbean have designed the Cruise Planner to help you reserve your dining, purchase drinks and Wi-Fi packages and even secure your onshore excursions. Not only this, but with this handy website portal you can also book spa treatments, behind-the-scenes tours and enjoy exclusive pre-cruise savings. If there’s a show you’re desperate to see or a luxury massage you’re eager to experience, book it before you board.

Note: The Cruise Planner is unavailable 3 days prior to embarkation.

3. Look elsewhere for lunch

The obvious choice for food once getting onboard is the Windjammer Marketplace, a staple dining area teeming with a range of international cuisines. However, to avoid the crowds simply head to the main dining room which is often open for lunch during embarkation day. Here, you can sit and relax with delicious courses served to your table by a team of friendly waiters.

4. Pack extra clothes in your carry-on

Embarkation day is one of the best opportunities to enjoy the swimming pool with minimal crowds, as well as the rock-climbing wall or FlowRider. Since most are too busy at the buffet or exploring their cabins, many onboard activities will be fairly quiet! Take advantage of the minimal queuing time and enjoy these highly sought-after activities by packing your swimming costume and a change of clothes in your carry-on bag.

5. Get to know the Cruise Compass

During the duration of your cruise, the Royal Caribbean Cruise Compass will become your best friend. From providing a schedule of the day’s activities and events to providing discounts and offers of the day, the Cruise Compass is jam packed with information to enhance your cruise experience. Keep an eye out for the delivery of this leaflet every day and you’ll be saving money while enjoying the best of the onboard entertainment - win, win!

6. Make the most of the morning

While a Royal Caribbean cruise is the perfect time to relax, save one or two mornings during the itinerary to wake up bright and early. When most of your fellow passengers will be sleeping in, at the buffet or in the gym, you can enjoy the onboard activities without needing to stand in line- you may even get to have multiple goes!

7. Choose speciality lunches

If you’re dying to try one of the speciality restaurants but are struggling to get a table or are wary of the prices, give them a try at lunchtime instead. While not all of them are open during lunch and usually only on sea days, the prices are cheaper than at dinner time.

8. Opt for the drink of the day

Each day of your cruise Royal Caribbean will feature a drink that will be a few dollars cheaper than other cocktails. If you’re feeling adventurous, give the drink-of-the-day a go and you’ll save some money (alternatively, if you’re going to be purchasing multiple drinks per night, opt for a Drinks Package for even better value for money).

9. Enjoy onboard activities during port days

If a port of call doesn’t appeal to you then take advantage of the peace and quiet onboard. Since most passengers would have disembarked bright and early you can make the most of the activities and facilities with minimal queuing and plenty of adventure!

10. Fill up on a Johnny Rocket’s breakfast for free

The renowned restaurant Johnny Rocket’s is a big hit no matter what time of day you arrive, but did you know that breakfast is complimentary here? From classic fry-ups to delectably sweet frenchtoast, breakfast at Johnny Rocket’s will truly set you up for the day!
