Italy cruises
La Spezia is often overlooked given its proximity to the famous Cinque Terre, however, the town is well worth a visit in its own right and the Cinque Terre are only a short train journey away. Being a busy port town, the waterfront is unsurprisingly well presented and the Passeggiata Morin provides a scenic stroll along a palm tree-lined promenade with views of the harbour and the Alps in the background. If you're looking to learn more about this little town, the Naval Technical Museum is an interesting place to spend a few hours browsing the various exhibitions, including one of the world's best ship figurehead collections. A little way out of the centre and visitors can also visit the quaint village of Biassa which offers an insight into local life in this region of Italy.
