Norwegian Star

Built in 2001, the Norwegian Star is one of the glories of the Norwegian Cruise Line. At 294 meters long, it is a luxurious behemoth of the seas; standing on shore to watch it glide inwards from the open sea is a majestic experience. The Norwegian Star was built to set the standard for freestyle cruising, allowing passengers to take in a vast array of entertainment and take part in exciting activities while dining and sailing in the height of luxury. Over a decade later, it is still one of the foremost cruise ships on the water, delighting thousands of passengers every year (it has a capacity of over 2,300) and allowing each of them to get a glimpse of what life should truly be like.

Seventy percent of the rooms on the Norwegian Star feature beautiful views of the open ocean, with an open feel that will make you forget you’re sailing on such a massive ship. If you’re looking for the high life, there are also two suites with three bedrooms, private gardens, and sundecks available - an unusual feature on any cruise ship, let alone one of this size! Cruises are available in Northern Europe as well as along the Mexican Riviera departing from Los Angeles, with plenty of sailings each year to enjoy. If you’re looking for something truly out of the ordinary for your long awaited holiday, book today on the Norwegian Star for the cruise of a lifetime.

With its “Freestyle Cruising” ethos, the Norwegian Cruise Line goes to great lengths to provide passengers with a wide range of delicious dining choices. The Norwegian Star caters to various diets; if you’re curious, we’d love to talk with you and explain your many options onboard.

The two primary dining rooms - the Aqua Main Dining Room and the Versailles Main Dining Room - feature carefully curated menus crafted exclusively for the Norwegian Star by top chefs. If you’re interested in truly fine dining, the Versailles will take your breath away with multi-course meals created by award-winning chefs, each of them members of the gourmet society Chaine des Rotisseurs. In addition to the main restaurants, other complimentary dining venues include the Ginza Asian Restaurant, where you can enjoy fresh soups and noodles, O'Sheehan's Neighborhood Bar & Grill, for an Irish pub atmosphere with unfussy food and crisp, refreshing beers, and Topsiders Bar & Grill, for casual burgers and hot dogs as well as the option of outdoor seating. There is also the Garden Cafe, which is perfect for groups with a mix of tastes thanks to its extensive array of buffet food.

On a special occasion, or even just to try something different, there are 7  speciality restaurants onboard;

  • Cagney's Steakhouse - for authentically American style hearty steak and sides
  • Moderno Churrascaria - on the flipside to the above, try a steal the south American way in this Brazilian steakhouse
  • Le Bistro - for some elegant French and Mediterranean cuisine in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere
  • Atrium Cafe & Bar - this spot is great if you're feeling social as it's located in the hub of the ship. Head here for lighter bites, cocktails, and coffee
  • Sushi and Sake Bar - to enjoy some sushi and sashimi or other traditional Japanese creations
  • Teppanyaki - watch in fascination as skilled chefs cook up Japanese cuisine on hot plates before you
  • La Cucina - delight in Italian classics such as carbonara, spaghetti, and margarita pizza

Entertainment onboard Norwegian Star leaves you wanting for nothing. There are four brilliant productions to choose from, and each will leave you invigorated and hungry for more;

  • Vegas! The Show - celebrate the history of Sin City in this music and dance performance which incorporates some of the biggest stars who have
    frequented Vegas
  • Band on The Run - relive the super seventies at this show of all the best musical hits of the decade
  • What the World Needs Now - enjoy the music of the innovative and influential Burt Bacharach alongside some stunning dance routines
  • Paradis - a more unusual production, this show will transport you to the Bohemian streets of Paris in a display of mystery and intrigue

Norwegian Star is equipped with the fully-functional Barong Fitness Centre, a basketball/volleyball court, a jogging track, and a golf driving net where you can practice your swing.
There's also the stunning Mandara Spa where you can indulge in some well-deserved me-time. Make the most of the facilities and choose a treatment from an extensive menu which includes classic massages, and facials, as well as acupuncture and even botox.
All types of cruisers will be delighted with the great array of onboard activities on offer. As well as the main pool and 6 whirlpools, spend time in the indoor pool and Jacuzzi, the thermal suite, and for the kids, Splash Academy kids' clubs. For something slightly less active, head to the onboard shops, library, or internet cafe, or the fabulous wine cellar for a tasting. Video Zone is also a favourite among kids and big kids alike.
As well as the theatre, in the evening adults can head to the Ultra Bliss Lounge for drinks and dancing, or try their luck in the onboard casino. Due to Hawaiian zoning regulations, the Norwegian Star was originally built without an onboard casino, but today, it features one of the most beautiful casinos on the water - the Star Club Casino - featuring 158 slot machines, card tables, and much more.
