Italy cruises
At first glance, this small city may seem slightly run down, but give Ancona a chance and it will be sure to delight. Throughout the city stand remnants of its past links with the Roman Empire and both the impressive amphitheatre and the Arch of Trajan are great places to delve deeper into this aspect of the city's cultural heritage. The Cattedrale di San Ciriaco is another must-see site and can be reached by a pleasant ascent, ending with scenic views across the Marche region of Italy. While Ancona itself has lots to offer, the surrounding beaches are also worth a visit, Portonovo Bay and Spiaggia del Passetto being the most popular places to spend a few hours relaxing by the sea. Before leaving, make sure to sample some of the local delicacies, particularly the delicious olive oil or wines for which the region is famous.
