An hour boat ride from Naples floats the Italian island of Capri, and it's easy to see why it's such a popular destination for the rich and famous. The island's beaches are arguably some of the most beautiful in Italy, but can be extremely crowded during the high season so if it takes your fancy, hiring a boat to explore the quieter hidden coves is a good way to avoid the masses. While you're out there, the Blue Grotto is a magical attraction where the electric blue natural light that bounces off the cave walls is guaranteed to wow. After admiring the island from the sea, a short bus ride can take you to a chair lift with spectacular views from the summit of Monte Solara. Descending back into the city centre, don't forget to try some of the local delicacies. Capri may be small but it has several famous dishes including the Caprese salad and the Torta Caprese.
