ms Westerdam

MS Westerdam received exciting renovations under a major 12 day dry dock in April 2017. She emerged in the spring to debut new public spaces, venues and amenities. Notable onboard additions include Music Walk venues and Explorations Central (EXC).

Typifying the best of Holland America Line, ms Westerdam offers spacious public rooms and staterooms, excellent food in all restaurants plus a varied onboard programme of entertainment and activities. Wherever you are on the ship, you will find a convenient place to have a meal or light refreshments, with the styles of menu and types of service tailored to suit your every need throughout the day, from an early breakfast to a light late-night snack.

As an experience, a cruise on ms Westerdam supplies all the elegance, formality and relaxation that upholds the fine traditions of cruising, while updating style, entertainment and range of activities to accommodate more modern tastes. MS Westerdam is also a showcase of modern clean shipping technology, with diesel-electric power and an Azipod, gearless and manoeuvrable propulsion system.

The art theme onboard is ‘Dutch Heritage in the New World’. As in all Holland America Line’s ships, examples of their extensive art collection can be seen throughout the public rooms, the dining areas and magnificently decorated central atrium. The staterooms are thoroughly modern in design and décor, and well equipped for comfort and convenience, with DVD players and flat-screen TV in all rooms and a range of complimentary services depending on the type of room. Passengers in the deluxe verandah suites, the Neptune and Pinnacle Suites, are invited to the ships officers’ cocktail party and have exclusive use of the Neptune Lounge.

As part of the spring 2017 refurbishment, 25 new staterooms were added and fleet wide suite upgrades were applied. Suites benefitted from many refreshed features such as carpet to drapery and new quartz-stone surfaces for the furniture.

Dining centres around the two-level Dining Room, which serves breakfast and evening meals every day from an extensive international menu, including vegetarian options. Lunch may not be available here on some port days, although there is a good choice of other restaurants, including the Pinnacle Grill, Canaletto (Italian), and the Lido Market.

The refreshed Lido Market offers an enticing marketplace full of flavours and delicious dishes. Themed food stations range from freshly baked goods and pastries to classic comfort food, personalised salads and sweet treats. Burgers, hot dogs, DIY tacos and milkshakes can be enjoyed at Dive-In. For something extra special, both the De Librije and Sel de Mer pop-ups offer a taste of expertly created cuisine from Holland America Line’s acclaimed Culinary Council.

Cookery fans and keen chefs can try out their own creations in the hands-on workshops held in America’s Test Kitchen. An exciting venue created in collaboration with the popular U.S cookery programme.

Complimentary room service is available for those wanting to dine in the comfort of their stateroom or suite, with some items available around the clock. Some menu items incur a fee.

New from 2017 guests of ms Westerdam can enjoy world-class live music at the Lincoln Centre Stage and witness talented live pianists at Billboard Onboard. The two new venues compliment B.B King’s Blues Club creating a trio of musical venues otherwise known as Holland America Line’s popular Music Walk.

Further entertainment can be enjoyed through a variety of live shows in the Vista Show Lounge, with singers, dancers, illusionists and comedians. There is also a Casino and several bars to choose from such as the Ocean Bar, Pinnacle Bar and Gallery Bar.

Wine tasting events, classes on mixing the perfect martini, party planning classes and line-dancing classes can also be enjoyed onboard ms Westerdam.

Those wanting to make the most of their itinerary can find destination insights, talks from local guides and more in Explorations Central, new from 2017. Whilst the amazing Rijksmuseum at Sea brings creative inspiration and encourages artistic flair onboard.
