The oldest city in the country, there is a rich history that visitors can begin to unravel in the Old Town. Here you can find traditional buildings and monuments – many of which had to be restored after the World Wars. The river Akmena – Dane runs through here, and in Danes quay you will find some beautiful sailing vessels including the impressive tall ship – Meridianas. Be sure to take a tour of the ship, which is now a marine museum.
You will not be short of things to see and do in the city, which boasts a wealth of museums, including the fantastic Lithuanian Sea Museum which holds regular sea lion and dolphin shows. There are also various outdoor activities to choose from, including rib boat rides and an orienteering park.
