Fred. Olsen Refurbish 3 Ships

12 Apr 2018 | by Helen Williams

In order to keep supplying guests with comfortable surroundings, a friendly atmosphere, and fresh facilities, Fred. Olsen have invested in a refurbishment of three of their ships; Braemar, Boudicca, and flagship Balmoral. Regular passengers will certainly quickly notice the revitalised onboard environment, and anyone new to the cruise line will appreciate its style and spaciousness. Read on for a short overview of what’s changed onboard.

Cabins

Accommodation on all three ships has been enhanced, with new HD Smart TVs, carpets, and fabrics being introduced. This has helped to create a light and airy atmosphere, and helps to ensure that cabins and suites are as comfortable as they can possibly be for guests. Other improvements include new lamps and lighting, new flooring and shower cubicles in bathrooms, and fresh, contemporary balcony furniture in balcony cabins.

Dining

Braemar – The Palms Café buffet restaurant has had a complete refurbishment, with new soft furnishings and upholstery throughout, and more formal venues the Thistle and Grampian have been fitted with new and stylish seating.

Boudicca – boasts a whole new dining venue; the Indian Ocean Restaurant. This replaces the Heligan Room, and serves delicious cuisine in a beautifully decorated environment. As well as this, guests can now enjoy oriental teas and special regional treats in the Oriental Tea Room.

Balmoral – The popular Grill Restaurant has been moved to the Lido Lounge, in which guests can relish in the stunning surrounding views thanks to large windows and an extensive galley. This has also allowed for the introduction of more dining opportunities in the Palms Café, and the fabulous Poolside restaurant as well. The Avon and Spey restaurants have also been enhanced with new carpets and seating.

Bars & Lounges

Braemar – the Coral Club and Observatory Lounge both benefit from new carpets and lighting, and the well-loved Neptune Lounge – the main venue for onboard presentations and enrichment opportunities – has been fitted with extra seating and new carpeting.

Balmoral – the Observatory Lounge boasts new seating and carpets, and the elegant Marquee Bar has some beautiful new furniture. The Neptune Lounge has had a thorough refurbishment, and new venue, the Gelato Bar, has also been introduced onboard.

Boudicca – popular drinking venue, the Morning Light Pub, has been relocated and is now more spacious and accommodating to groups of guests. The Lido Bar boasts new furniture, comfortable fabrics, and magnificent full-width doors which allow for fabulous panoramic views and a light, airy atmosphere.
