Italy cruises
Situated on the coast in Italy's Campania region Sorrento offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of nearby Naples. Being the birthplace of pizza this town is unsurprisingly not short of fine cuisine and visitors can be sure to get their taste buds tingling with wonderful shellfish dishes, gnocchi and treccia-a regional variation of Mozzarella-all washed down with a glass of Limoncello. While the Museo Correale di Terranova and the 15th-century cathedral in Piazza Tasso are must-see sites, Sorrento is perhaps best enjoyed from its two spectacular beaches: Marina Piccola and Marina Grande. The town is also a great base to further explore the Campania region, where Ancient Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius are just a short train journey away, with the chance to hop off along the way and explore the many surrounding villages.
