Slovenia cruises

Koper is Slovenia’s largest port, just a short walk away from the centre of the old city, which clusters around the Cathedral of St Mary’s Assumption, Tito’s Square and the Venetian-style Praetorian Palace. On weekends, a tourist train travels free of charge every half hour from the cruise dock right around the perimeter of the old town. Slovenia has been called Europe’s best kept secret, a small country that is by-passed, flown over or driven through on the way to Italy or Croatia. Even in the peak summer period, the crowds will be elsewhere. The country offers a relaxed holiday destination that is perfect for a Mediterranean cruise stop-over. The people are friendly and hospitable, and the traditional family-run gostilna (similar to a tavern or inn) offers a taste of the local cuisine with a uniquely Slovenian air of charm.
