France cruises
It may not be as popular as Ajaccio, but the Corsican city of Bastia, France's second largest passenger port after Calais, is still worthy of a visit. A relaxing way to begin is sitting outside one of the many cafés in the old port, watching the boats go by and sipping on a coffee. For even more choice of eateries, the car free neighbourhood of Terra Vecchia is also the perfect base for learning more about the city's history, particularly at the Palace of Governors which is home to the Bastia Museum, or, if it''s possible to get sick of the quaint streets, the Romieu Garden provides visitors some lovely greenery. Having worked up an appetite, the weekend food stalls at Market Square are ready and waiting to tempt passersby with Corsican specialities, challenging anyone to not stop for a freshly made cheese fritter.
