Istanbul may well be imposing in size, but anyone who chooses to visit this vibrant city won't be at a loss for something to do. The historic heart of this city is Sultanahmet, a neighbourhood which houses some of Istanbul's most impressive landmarks, most notably the enormous Hagia Sophia mosque and the Museum of Archaeology. Another lovely area to explore is Ortak?y where the seafront is a hotspot for people watching outside one of the many little cafés. Before you leave, don't forget to tuck into some of the local dishes, amongst which Turkish delight, Maras ice cream and Kumpir (stuffed potatoes) feature heavily and are readily available at the Grand Bazaar, the largest and oldest bazaar in the world. While you're there, why not pick up a souvenir from the market outside selling handmade, authentic crafts.
