Poland cruises
Poland is a beautiful country in which to travel with a coastline no less spectacular than its interior. Baltic cruises typically include the Polish port of Gdynia, which is located close to Poland’s largest coastal city, Gdansk. Arriving at Gdynia's port, you may be struck by just how modern this city is. Only 100 years ago it was a tiny fishing village, and it wasn’t until after World War I that it began to grow in the moderately-sized city it is today. In 1939, Gdansk had strategic military value as a coastal Baltic city and thus motivated the German invasion of Poland. It was almost completely destroyed, but is now a beautiful city, with incredible monuments such as the Oliwa Cathedral, originally built in the 12th century, and the medieval-era Malbork castle. Gdansk is also the world’s main amber centre: get ready to shop!
