Established in 2009 and based in Tilbury, Cruise and Maritime Voyages are one of the newest ocean cruise lines but have already built up a remarkably loyal following in their relatively short lifespan.

Popular for their adult-only, no-fly cruises from regional ports around the UK, Cruise and Maritime are much loved by those looking for an enriching and relaxing, classic cruise. CMV’s small and medium-sized ships mean a warm atmosphere and attentive service, where all the small details and guests’ special needs can be attended to result in a luxurious cruise experience.

Attracting a friendly crowd onboard their six cruise ships, who enjoy lively socialising and relaxing tranquillity in equal measure, guests will find a perfect balance between the feel of a grand country club and a cosy home away from home. All this combined results in Cruise and Maritime bringing the best of traditional British cruises and ensures countless cruisers come back to their favourite ship again and again.

In addition to being some of the friendliest ships at sea, with many cabins reserved for single occupancies along with hosted events, Cruise and Maritime are extremely popular with solo cruisers.

Cruise and Maritime Ships

Cruise and Maritime’s fleet of six unique cruise ships all have their own history, creating a slightly different feel when onboard each characterful ship. Whichever ship you decide to cruise on, you’re sure to find the same service, features and wide variety of destinations that make a CMV cruise so special.

Marco Polo is a classic-looking ocean liner ideal for grand voyages and small enough to create a real sense of community onboard. Well known for her adult-only and party cruise sailings which see cruisers return time after time, guests onboard Marco Polo can truly unwind and cruise the world in peace and comfort. In spite of her relatively small size and capacity, Marco Polo boasts plenty of dining, social and entertainment venues, including outside pool area and luxurious spa facility.

Astoria was built as a traditional ocean liner for transatlantic voyages but now sails as an intimate, adult-only cruise ship sailing from regional British ports such as Poole, Portsmouth and Hull. This makes her a popular ship for those looking for no fly cruises around the British Isles and Northern Europe.

Columbus is the current flagship of the CMV fleet and a much-loved, mid-sized ship due to her extensive variety of onboard entertainment areas, as well as famous World Cruise itineraries. Whether you cruise the sunny Canary Islands, round the British Isles or to the popular European Christmas markets, with Columbus you are sure to disembark for the final time with a host of new friends and great memories from your time onboard this famously friendly ship. Enjoy fantastic meals in the main restaurant or treat yourself to a supplementary dinner at the Fusion Indian or Grill restaurants. Afterwards, take in a show in the main theatre, socialise with a pint or a cocktail in the pub or lounge bar and then head to the casino or nightclub to see the evening out in style.

With spacious interior venues yet a cosy atmosphere, Magellan remains an extremely popular Cruise and Maritime cruise ship. With three main dining venues, including a buffet option, as well as a supplementary Fusion restaurant, you’re sure of a fine meal whatever your mood or occasion. Meanwhile, you’ll find plenty of entertainment throughout the day and night, with plenty of deck space and pool areas as well as a magnificent triple-tiered show lounge.

Joining the CMV fleet in 2019, Vasco da Gama joins Astor to sail between Europe and Australasia. Still fresh from a refit and refurbishment in 2015, Vasco da Gama is a medium-sized cruise ship that offers the best of both worlds when it comes to mod-cons, luxury and classic British cruising. The highlight of this already popular addition to CMV is the main swimming pool area which boasts a retractable roof. This social hub is the place to be during the daytime for a dip, lounge and friendly cocktail whatever the weather.

Sailing from 2021, Amy Johnson is one of the larger ships in the fleet, providing plenty of onboard facilities while maintaining the feeling of a more intimate cruise ship experience. Voyaging everywhere from the British Isles to the Mediterranean, travel in style on this ship which offers a host of tempting restaurants, exciting shore excursions and more than enough public spaces, including a spa, for guests to sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

Cruise and Maritime Voyages’ Cruise Destinations

A proudly British cruise line, Cruise and Maritime are a fantastic option for those looking to cruise the British Isles, stopping off in wondrous destinations such as the Scottish Hebrides, Dublin on a mini-cruise, and London. The fleet's small size is also a factor in making Cruise and Maritime's cruise itineraries so special and unique as they are able open smaller ports and shallower areas to you that larger cruise ships simply cannot access.

Many CMV cruise ships have home ports in the UK and Ireland for fantastic no-fly cruises from a regional port near you:

  • Magellan: Liverpool, Dublin, Dundee, Newcastle, Cobh, Bristol, Tilbury
  • Marco Polo: Tilbury, Bristol, Rosyth (Edinburgh), Newcastle, Cardiff, Portsmouth, Bristol
  • Columbus: Tilbury
  • Astoria: Hull, Poole, Portsmouth
  • Astor: Tilbury
  • Amy Johnson: Tilbury

No-fly Cruises and Fly Cruises with Cruise and Maritime

Cruise and Maritime are famous for their no-fly cruises from the UK. However, select fly cruise destinations and itineraries are available. Popular cruise destinations with Cruise and Maritime voyages include:

  • No-Fly Cruises- British Isles, Northern Europe, The Mediterranean, World Cruise,Transatlantic, Repositioning
  • Fly Cruises- Caribbean, Middle East, Asia, Australasia, India, Cruise and Stay

Cruise and Maritime No-Fly Cruises

For many cruisers, Cruise and Maritime Voyages are best known for their sailings from many regional ports throughout the British Isles. Standout departure ports include Liverpool, Tilbury, Hull, Bristol and Edinburgh-Rosyth. From here, CMV guests can cruise all over the world, from the wider British Isles and North Western Europe to the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and beyond.

The most popular Cruise and Maritime destination has to be their sailings around the British Isles, stopping in at many fascinating coastal cities and tourist spots, as well as taking in the gorgeous British scenery from the white cliffs of Dover to the misty isles of the Scottish Hebrides.

For those looking to venture further, there are many popular sailings to northern Europe such as Holland and Belgium, the Faroe Islands and Iceland, Fjords and even the Baltic Sea, to visit St. Petersburg, Tallinn and Gdansk.

For the truly adventurous, an epic world cruise taking in no less than 120 ports of call simply can’t get any better than onboard the classic Columbus. Departing from Tilbury, the grand voyage begins with a traditional transatlantic crossing to the Caribbean before journeying through the legendary Panama Canal and onwards to New Zealand and Australia across the Pacific Ocean. Afterwards, Columbus travels north to Japan before heading down the coasts of far East Asia and on to India before sailing through the famous Suez Canal and back home via the Mediterranean.

For those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of life on land and enjoy long sea days relaxing before stopping off at exotic ports of call, the biannual repositioning cruise with either Vasco da Gama or Astor is a must.

Cruise and Maritime Fly Cruises

Although Cruise and Maritime specialise in no-fly cruises, it is possible to join one of their longer sailings for a certain section as a fly-cruise package.

A popular example is flying to the Caribbean to join Magellan in March on her journey through the Panama Canal on to Mexico. Alternatively, you could join Columbus on part of her world cruise in a region of the world that most takes your fancy, or otherwise Astor and Vasco da Gama during their repositioning cruises twice a year between Tilbury and Australia. In this case, Dubai is a particularly popular leg for flying in and joining the journey.

In addition, for those from the North and Scotland, there is no need to travel down to Tilbury – on certain cruises you are able to fly direct to Amsterdam, or Rotterdam from 2020, and join the cruise from there. Also, for those looking to extend their cruise into a wider holiday, cruise and stay and tailor-made packages are also available.
